Ireland's current population is 4,156,119. It is the third largest part of Europe. Ireland is known for its mountains, lakes and rolling farmlands. After years of struggle is has become one of the most thriving countries in Europe. Exports play a large role in Irelands success. In fact Ireland is the largest exporter of software related goods and services. The economy has also recently started to benefit from a rise in consumer spending, construction and business investments.
In 2005 Ireland was ranked the best place to live in the world by Economist magazine. The country's combination of increasing wealth and traditional values gives it the conditions most likely to make its people happy. Economist says,"Ireland wins because it successfully combines the most desirable elements of the new, such as low unemployment and political liberties, with the preservation of certain cosy elements of the old, such as stable family and community life." The cost of living does tend to be slightly higher than other parts of Europe though.
